Who we serve

Two kinds of clients. One kind of service.

Individuals and businesses have different numbers, different deadlines, different headaches. We handle both — and the clients who bring us their personal return often end up bringing us their business too.

How it works

Three simple steps. No surprises.

We know hiring an accountant feels like a big decision. It shouldn't be. Here's exactly what happens from "hello" to "done."

1
Day 0

Free consultation

Call the Boca Raton office or book online. Tell us what you're working with — prior returns, business structure, a recent IRS letter. We talk it through and give you a clear read on your situation. 30 minutes, no charge, no pressure.

2
Days 1-3

Scope + flat-fee quote

If we're the right fit, you get a written scope and a flat fee for the work. No hourly surprises, no open-ended retainers. You sign the engagement letter and we set up your secure client portal.

3
Ongoing

Work + ongoing review

We do the work, review it internally before it goes to the IRS or to you, and schedule a review call to walk you through it. You get the same team on your file next year — no re-onboarding, no retelling your story.

If we're not the right fit, we'll say so.

The Florida advantage

If you live or work here, the tax code is on your side.

Florida's tax environment is one of the most favorable in the United States. Most CPAs never make this tangible for clients. We do — and it's one of the main reasons clients move from out-of-state firms to us after relocating.

0%

state income tax

Florida has no individual state income tax

Wages, investment income, retirement distributions, Social Security — none of it is taxed by Florida. A dollar earned in Florida is worth measurably more than the same dollar earned in New York, New Jersey, California, or Connecticut.

$50K+

typical first-year savings

Relocating from a high-tax state? We specialize in it.

Proper Florida domicile establishment can save $20K-$100K+ in the first year alone for high-earners. We handle the documentation, the prior-state audit defense, and the ongoing compliance so the savings are real and defensible.

homestead value protection

Florida homestead protection is among the strongest in the US

Unlimited acreage protection outside municipalities, up to half-acre within — creditors generally cannot force the sale of your primary Florida residence. We coordinate with your attorney to preserve this protection in your estate plan.

Thinking of moving to Florida? Talk to us before the move, not after. Domicile-change planning is measurably more effective when set up in advance.

Why KDM

Built on three principles — and proof you can feel.

Professionalism, responsiveness, quality. We've organized the whole firm around those three ideas since day one — and here's what that means for you.

Licensed, experienced, local

Florida-licensed CPAs with deep South Florida roots. Not a national chain — a local firm that answers its own phone.

One business-day response

Email returned within hours. Phone calls returned same-day. Clients don't wait a week to hear back from their accountant.

Free initial consultation

Before you commit to anything, we sit down — in-person or over the phone — and talk through your situation at no charge.

A real relationship, not a ticket number

You talk to the same team every year. We learn your business, your family, your goals — and the work gets better over time.

Principle 1

Professionalism

Every client gets the expertise of our whole firm — combined experience, careful attention, and senior-level judgment on every engagement.

Principle 2

Responsiveness

Phone calls returned the same business day. Emails answered within hours. No getting passed around — you know who is working on your file.

Principle 3

Quality

Accurate returns, defensible positions, and documentation that stands up to IRS scrutiny. The work is done right the first time.

Before December 31 of the year you want to affect — not in April after it's over. Key deadlines clients frequently miss:

  • October 15 — last date to fund a SEP-IRA for a prior tax year (if return was extended).
  • December 31 — last date to execute most tax-saving moves: Roth conversions, tax-loss harvesting, charitable gifts, Section 179 purchases.
  • April 15 — last date to contribute to an IRA or HSA for the prior tax year.
  • 4 times a year — estimated-tax due dates (Jan 15, Apr 15, Jun 15, Sep 15).

FAQ

Answers to the questions we hear most.

Still unsure? Call the Boca Raton office — we'll give you a straight answer in plain English.

What makes KDM Accounting different from other Boca Raton accounting firms?
Three things: we return calls the same business day, you work with the same team year after year, and your first consultation is always free. We stay small enough that owners still know every client by name, but credentialed enough to handle complex tax and IRS work.
Do you serve businesses outside Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale?
Yes. We regularly work with clients throughout Palm Beach County, Broward County, and all of South Florida. For tax preparation, bookkeeping, and advisory services, most of our work is done electronically — we exchange documents via a secure portal and handle everything else remotely.
How much does a free consultation actually cost?
Nothing. We sit down with you — in person at either office, on the phone, or on a video call — and talk through your situation. No hourly charges, no pressure, no obligation to sign on. You walk away with a clear idea of what engaging us would involve and what it would cost.
Do you handle IRS audits and back taxes?
Yes — we do that work every week. We represent taxpayers before the IRS for audits, back taxes, liens, levies, wage garnishments, Offers in Compromise, and installment agreements. You stop talking to the IRS directly; we handle it.
I just moved to Florida from a high-tax state. Can you help with my first Florida-resident return?
Absolutely — this is one of our specialties. We handle the domicile documentation, the prior-state part-year return, and ongoing planning to keep your Florida tax advantage defensible. The first consultation is free; book it before you file.
